Amelia Earhart |
Amelia Mary Earhart, born July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas, probably died in 1937 in the Western Pacific, was an American pilot who became famous through a series of bold long-haul flights and pushing for women would be given the same opportunities as men to be trained in aviation.
Amelia started in June 1937 a round the world flight east from Miami, Florida, and disappeared without a trace at the leg from Lae in New Guinea to Howland Island July 2, 1937.
