Mahatma Gandhi was born October 2, 1869 in Porbandar in Gujarat, died (murdered) January 30, 1948 in New Delhi, India, was an Indian lawyer, politician and spiritual leader. He was a prominent figure in the Indian independence aspirations of the British Empire.
